Worried
I bet you thought I forgot about the whole poll/purse/flower thing. Well, see, I didn't forget it just took me a while - I did, however, forget my name today. It was Owen's first day at preschool and, up until Friday, he was adamant that he was not going. Friday, the teacher had all of the children come in for a 15 minute one-on-one appointment to make a special snack place mat. From that point on, Owen has been willing to go to school. Well, we got there this morning and I was nervous again (yes, I spend a lot of my life in that state), so when this other parent held out his hand and introduced himself, I could not remember my name. I just stuck out my hand and and squirmed in the awkward silence. Sad isn't it? I have plenty of excuses: no coffee, distracted by Owen, hectic morning, not enough sleep, but the fact of the matter is - I forgot my name. I joke about it a lot when people ask me about having 3 kids who are all 2 years apart, but this was no joke - it was a real "deer in headlights" moment. What's worse - it is a co-op preschool and after the name incident they will probably think I am incapable of watching children and they will probably kick us out. Too bad because Owen really likes it ...just another something to worry about.

A) Thank you for the lovely picture. It's a pleasure to look at. And I do so love that purse.
B) That's hysterical that you forgot your name. Obviously, I'm laughing WITH you and not AT you. Come on...you're supposed to kind of chuckle or something right about now. lol
and
C) If those people try to kick you out, bake them one of your fantabulous looking cakes and THEN ask them if they still intend to boot you. I'm betting they'll grab that cake and forget all about you being so "socially challenged".
I'm dying laughing right now. Sorry. Really. I am. ha,ha,ha,ha,ha
Don't worry about it. it has happened to them before.
Do you happen to suffer from migraines? I often will lose pieces of my memory preceeding a migraine. I will forget color names, how to turn off a light- and yes- my own name.
Hey! Very cool! Owen has decided he is ready to go! Hope it gives you a few moments between this child here and that child there to play with the child at home! Feels spread thin sometimes though doesn't it. Chickens out of the nest........
The purse is super cute!
I know I shouldn't take delight in your distress...but I am! Don't worry I'm sure every parent in that school has forgotten their name at least once before! And if they haven't than they have WAY too much time on their hands!
Your purse is very cute!
Don't you just hate those deer in the headlight moments! LOL
I'm sure he'll do just fine; and you will, too! :)
Well, considering I am one of the most forgetful people you will likely never meet, I say "welcome to my world!!" You could have been very formal and said, "Hi, I'm Mrs. John Smith ( I know this isn't really your husband's name, but bear with me...) and then they would surely think that someone so proper and antiquated would be more than suitable to care for the kids!!
Just kidding of course, I bet they just think you're very mysterious and secretive...maybe even a celebrity who is in town shooting a film (Julianne Moore, perhaps?).
Take care,
uhmm, err, I forget my name too!!!
Becka,
I don't get migraines, but that would be a nice excuse. =)
