The Little People At Work

The other morning I awoke to find Spencer making me breakfast (under Sam's supervision). There on the counter waiting for me was what he called "deluxe toast" - a slice of wheat toast covered with a mixture of butter, orange marmalade and blackberry jam, topped with maraschino cherries. Yes, he had carefully placed four of those unnaturally red little gems right on top. Good morning!

Laney ran around for the rest of the morning telling everyone, including me, "time out to you - wight NOW!" Handful does not even begin to describe this one.

Then there was Owen, who after dropping off the little chef at school, sweetly asked:

"Mama, how did you hurt your hair?"

"What?"

"Did you hurt your hair?"

"No Owen, why do you ask?"

"Because you have that Band-Aid in your hair."

"Oh, it's a barrette to hold my hair back!"

Won't be wearing that one again.

I thought I would include these recent photos in this post - seems appropriate. Lots of little things have been falling out of the front of the dishwasher recently, including roasted pumpkin seeds:

We also found this on the refrigerator shortly after Spencer birthday dinner. He loves prime rib and chose to go out to a restaurant, Weber's, for his birthday dinner.

Translation: Let's go to Weber's - I'm hungry. Order meat.

Now, we were missing some letters, so Spencer made some, including the "R" that he wrote on a napkin and taped to the refrigerator, the rest is just bad spelling and he comes by that naturally. There is never a dull moment when the little people are at work.

On a positive note that is excellent practice of fine motor skills for little Laney!!

A man is a man is a man - when we eat out his Granddad Pops always orders pepper steak and Gt Uncle John pepper steak or standing rib. PS: Love the fridge display and how resourceful he was.

OH, how I love this post. My wee cherubs have long since passed this stage. But I wish I had been blogging about their adventures! Blogging is a wonderful thing for a mom so she can treasure the hilarity of having those little people around.

I love seeing those sweet little hands carefully placing the pumpkin seeds in the dishwasher. Gave me all sorts of flashbacks of other wee spit covered hands getting into all sorts of mischief.

Thanks for the happy memories today,

xo,
Melissa

Heather,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I didn't guilt my son, I did it mostly on my own, with help from some other bloggers. Your kids are precious; I love the "order maet". This blog will be such a great journal of your childrens' formative years.

What a perfect small motor activity! Pushing pumpkin seeds into the dishwasher! Adorable!

Love the message... isn't it neat when kids recognize that the written word is a powerful tool?

The teacher in me is just beaming!

What a sweet post. I just love seeing those busy baby hands and how creative your little man is with his word board.

Hey - tell Spencer I'm with him - I'm always up for a restaurant and prime rib!

And tell Laney to stop wasting good food like that! lol (Although the pumpkin seeds in the dishwasher vent are better than a peanut butter sandwich in the DVD player, right?)

As as for Owen...well I just don't know what to say. Except I'm never coming around that kid without wearing a hat. My hair would cause him to call a paramedic!

You mean to tell me those little slots are NOT for pumpkin seeds?
And I love the Meat message. I have not laughed so hard for awhile.
