My Paypal Account Was Smoking

Have I mentioned that I love E-bay? I do - I find all kinds of stuff I don't need there, like the dining room chandelier. My biggest purchase to date was a dining room table and 6 chairs . It was my intention to recover the seats, but, like most things in this house, that project remains of the "to do" list. The table has 2 leaves underneath the top, so it extends to...well, it gets really big. Want to see? Pay no attention to the red velvet okay? Okay.

Here it is all dressed up and no place to go. This was a quick table setting I put together for dinner last week. I don't have a favorite layout - I just kind of wing it with whatever I have on hand at the time. Out of all the dishes I have, I think these Deruta plates are my favorite; blue, white and yellow, of course.

Do you have a favorite table setting?

That is a beautiful table! Isn't ebay so addicting?? Your table setting is really pretty - the colors are so refreshing. I have a set of square red pottery plates that I really like using - although I wish I had cups to match. I love setting the table for special dinners!

Love your dining room table! Very nice! I tend to use our Lenox Eternal set the most...a cream color plate with a gold rim. I also have Royal Doulton's Old Country Roses but I don't get it out all that much. Our crystal pattern is Waterford Alana.

I will definitely be taking a horrifying, dizzying amount of Disney pictures and by the time I am done you will be SICK TO DEATH of seeing them! lol

That is a gorgeous table! Really pretty!

And your table settings look so pretty too!

My dishes are so simple, creamy white French country dishes. Then I just jazz things up with accessories, linens or colored goblets. If I had more room I'd love more dishes, but mine seem to work for every occasion.

I probably need to glam my place settings up more often, but I do love my dishes. I change them with the seasons. In summer and spring, I use my House and Home dishes that are the exact shade of blue-gray as my kitchen cabinetry, in Fall I love to pull out my brown transferware, and at Christmas time and winter, I have a set of simple cream dishes with red snowflakes. So pretty, in fact I can't wait to haul them out again!!

Fun post!

Love your table setting - Blue and yellow - one of my favorites. Your table and chairs were quite the find. One of these days I'm going to have to become an ebay user! Thanks for visiting my site!

O MY! I see I am seriously lacking in the dish department! Do paper plates count? I have plain red, and white with blue flowers! They match the plastic cups so nicely! Would you prefer a red cup or a clear one? ROFL!

I have one of those things you all are calling a table. But, I didn't realize you were supposed to actually sit down and eat at it. Hmmmmmmm! Now there's a concept!

Anyhoo, your table is beautiful! (I would have NEVER thought to buy furniture off of eBay). I LOVE your table setting. The colors are so cheery!

Hi Heather, your table and chairs are gorgeous! I love the marquetry on the table top.

I've looked on ebay occasionally, but never got up the nerve to buy anything. It's probably for the best, because I need Shop-a-holics Anonymous just for my thrift store visits!

And, of course, I never met a dish I didn't like. LOL Your Deruta are beautiful!

Mary

What a great find! Your table setting is SO beautiful. I love the yellow and blue against the white, crisp tablecloth.

Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Everyone,
A few of you asked how we got the table and chairs delivered. It was one of those deals where they had a freight company they worked with, so you could get the shipping price before you bid. The shipping was expensive, but I got a real deal on the table and chairs, so it all worked out.

The carving detail on the table and chairs are beautiful. I use china that was given to me by my husbands step-mother. It belonged to my husbands mother. She wanted it to be given to the wife of her first married son. Which was me.
It's cream with tiny fusia flowers on it.

Wow - I am always amazed at what people can find on ebay!

Recovering chairs is SO easy...the hard part is picking the fabric! To recover chairs, all you need is a staple gun and about 1/2-3/4 yd of fabric per chair (based on the pattern). That is, unless you need to have the chair pad rebuilt!

I love your table, the top is amazing, what a find.

I have blue and white china, but I'm yet to get a dinner set, I just have not found "the one". The yellow and blue on your table is lovely and stylish.
