Love The Fruit Hats

I love these knit fruit caps so much, I made this little hat to send to the Preemie Project:
Strawberry Hat
I think my love affair with these hats started when Spencer received one as a baby gift. Didn't it look just darling on him?

Spencer Hat

I think he loved it too - really, you can see it in his eyes can't you? It was like he wanted to scream, "Mom, I LOVE this hat!". Well, I loved the strawberry hat so much that I made a lemon hat for Owen:

Lemon cap

Now, Owen...Owen really loved his hat. He is such a funny guy - he's always fooling around. No, he wasn't trying to take his mind off of the lemon hat - come on - he loved it! Yep, he loved, loved, loved his so much, I decided to spread the fruit cap love to Laney too:

Plum Cap

I think Laney loved her plum hat most of all - I think it's written all over her face don't you?

I know the preemie who gets the strawberry hat will love it too because who doesn't love a fruit cap?

Can I put a request in for one?? I won't need it for about 7 or 8 months:) I really like the strawberry one the best. A girl at work made a watermelon one for her baby and I have been in love ever since. I would love to have that much talent! I promise you she will LOVE it, or at leat I will;) LOL

Coming right up - I'd love to make one! I can make a watermelon too. Actually, they are very easy to make, so I can make one of each. She/He can have a whole fruit salad.

I love, love those hats but my grown sons refuse to wear them. What kind of boys did I raise anyway??

last year I was a "mad hatter" & knitted many hats like these for the school holiday boutique, looked like a poduce stand and they flew like mad! have you seen the self patterning yarn, you knit it and as you knit, it makes in pattern.... fair-isle ....
ingenious! you simply will love it!

Apparently, I'm stalking you today. Sorry. Just had to say, though, I love these little hats. And seriously, making them for preemies is fantastic.

My little grandson passed away the day he was born. He was 5 weeks premature so he was kind of tiny. A wonderful, sweet woman whose husband worked with my brother-in-law, knitted him a beautiful little Superman cap to wear (my son and his wife called him their Superboy and kind of went with that theme). Anyway, I will forever be grateful for that woman's kindness. And these hats you're making are every bit as wonderful.
(And I love the pictures of the kids wearing them!).

Those hats are precious. I worked in the NICU for years and we always loved getting a bag of bonnies.
That little lemon looks like he is making lemonaide!

Vanessche -
Thanks for visiting! I too have discovered the self-striping yarn. I made a quick hat from some self-striping yarn in the car a few weeks ago. I'll post the hat later today.
