Drip Drop
Sam and I have very different personality types and our differences are probably most apparent in the way we approach house painting. Last Friday, I decided to paint the downstairs bathroom. There are probably fifty other things that actually need to be done, but I felt the urge. I am a yesterday kind of person - I get an idea and then I want results immediately. Sam is the patient one - when he paints something he tapes everything off, puts paper down, sands, etc. Not me, I barely even get a piece of newspaper under the bucket of paint...
Shameful isn't it? My philosophy is that it's going to happen anyway, so if I wipe it up before it dries everything will be fine. 9 times out of 10 all is well - we needn't discuss the other 10%. See, you never would have guessed that I filled the sink with paint would you?
After knowing me for 14 years, Sam is no longer surprised by my painting habits - he just shakes his head, cringes and stands back (he is worried about getting painted).

Oh boy,
We are so alike it's scary! All I have to do is mention that i am thinking of painting something and I get one of those slow motioned NOoooooooo's from my hubby. The only way he'll let me paint is if it's outside. I'm such an optimistic slob I often don't even change my clothes before thinking, "I won't get paint on myself..." Yuh!! Right...I've had to relegate many's a t-shirt to my workout pile!!
Your bathroom looks pretty, by the way!!

LOL
My husband and I are exactly the same. He painted houses over the summer during college, so for a while, he was the expert. After an introductory course, I decided my way worked just fine. I'm a "wipe it up before it dries" kind of gal myself.
I paint exactly the same way. I deplore taping and would much rather wipe it up with a damp rag. Unfortunatly I am a bit absent minded and my statistics are far wrose than yours. about 60% of the time it works out for me. We happen to have muti colored paint splotches all over several of our carpets.
Love the new bathroom color!
My best friend's method of painting would send you screaming for cover. If she thought it'd work, I swear she'd just throw the whole bucket of paint over the wall and smooth out the drips later...after she's sat down and had 2 or 3 cups of coffee.
Love the new bath! I don't tape, but I do lay down a drop cloth. It takes me half the time to paint as my husband.....:-)

I like painting as well, and that blue color would look great in my bathroom....
Hmmmm ;D
It looks wonderful... well done!
I LOVE that shade of blue!
Love the color! And I am rolling laughing at your description of the way you paint!
you paint exactly the same way I do!
why waste time when it needs to be done yesterday?
Love the color of the new bathroom, and hope you have a very enjoyable weekend with your family full of fun...and of course wine! :)

Oh that's so funny! I am exactly the same! I once spilled half a gallon of DARK RED paint onto our CREAM COLORED carpet in our family room - and it wouldn't have happened if I would've just SLOWED DOWN and paid attention to what I was doing. AND I didn't take the time to put a drop cloth over the carpet before I started painting, which made matters worse. Oh, well, live and learn, right?
The bathroom is lovely! and I say, no harm, no foul.:)
Love your paint colour and I am you when it is time to paint and like my sister from restyled homes, I never bother to change into old clothes because I figure I won't get paint on my outfit..yeah right!
However, if I mention to my husband that I want to paint...he freaks and then paints the room for me because I am soooo messy, but still a good painter...but he hates my messes!
my jim sounds like your sam. i am not allowed to paint.
